What age do you have to be to participate in the Mississippi Senior Olympics (MSO)?
You must be 50 by December 31st of competing year.
Does participating in this event qualify me for the National Senior Games?
2020 is a qualifying year. The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) holds National Games in odd years. Visit www.nsga.com for more details.
Do you have to be from Mississippi in order to participate in MSO?
No. MSO an open state. This means anyone from outside of the state can participate. Out of state participants will qualify for the National Games based on the qualifying finish and/or minimum standard requirements achieved.
Will out of state qualifiers knock out MS participants from qualifying for Nationals?
No, the top four MS finishers and/or minimum standard requirements will qualify for Nationals.
How much does it cost to participate in MSO?
The general registration fee is $20.
Additional fees incurred would be for Golf ($39 practice round) and additional guest fee for Celebration of Athletes and Opening Ceremonies($10) to be paid at the event. Your first guest is free.
What do the fees cover?
The fees cover medals, participant t-shirt, Opening Ceremony, Celebration of Athletes Social and registration for all events offered.
How many events can I sign up for?
As many as you would like, providing they do not conflict.
What sports do you have?
Our events include: 5K and 10K road race, 5K and 1500m racewalk, archery, badminton, basketball, bocce ball, bowling, cycling, darts, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, powerwalk, racquetball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, triathlon and volleyball.
